President of Old Faithful Holsters
About Us Page
I am Thomas Tedder and I founded Old Faithful Holsters in 2010 with a revolutionary idea; offer the best designed and highest quality holster on the market today at a price that makes our competitors cringe.
I have always had an obsession with detail, which was instilled into me early in life. In the US Air Force I worked at NORAD as a computer technician and was responsible for mainframe computers worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Our mission was to track all space debris in earth orbit and detect missile launches among other tasks. Later in life I worked as a software developer which required the same level of concentration and uncompromising work ethic.
My entire life I have never accepted anything less than perfection. Even in college I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology – Programming a full year early with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
I have always loved guns and exercise my second amendment right to carry a firearm. I started making holsters when I couldn’t find the holster I needed and, of course, I don’t do anything without thinking it through thoroughly. I went through many design iterations before I was completely satisfied and in the end I settled on a design that is better than anything available on the market today from any other company.
The design uses higher quality leather than anyone else. It’s not just more expensive, it is a different type of leather with the perfect amount of waxes and sealers to make it more comfortable, more beautiful and more resistant to moisture than standard skirting leather embraced by the “big names” in the industry. It’s also a thicker piece of leather so you won’t feel a pistol poking you in the side.
The shape of the leather allows you to quickly grasp the pistol’s grip without running into leather. Most other holster makers still haven’t figured this out and the few that have realized it want to charge extra to cut the leather to where it should have been in the first place.
The shape of the leather has another feature missed by others in the industry. Our holsters have wide tabs to evenly distribute the weight of a fully loaded pistol across your waist instead of at one point.
One of the most important features I integrated into the design is an adjustable tension on your pistol. Other holster makers use cheap rivets to attach the kydex to leather. The problem is that when the holster breaks in, the leather will form around the pistol and the retention will loosen. There are very few options to tighten such a holster at this point and I don’t believe that is good enough for something that may be needed to save your life. What happens if you are knocked to the ground by an attacker and your pistol go sliding across the ground?
I designed this holster to use adjustable screws to allow for a very reassuring grip on your pistol, even after it is broken in. Sure it costs more, both in labor and hardware, but it is the right way to do it.
Even our kydex is thicker. In fact, it is about 50% thicker. After thousands of holsters sold, we’ve never had a single holster returned with a broken kydex shell (or leather backing for that matter).
I truly believe that you should be able to buy the absolute best holster for the absolute best price. I don’t think you should have to pay $100 for a holster. We offer our holsters at less than half of most other manufacturers.
If you like to do things yourself, you can buy one of our kits and have a holster that is better than anyone’s for about a third of the cost.
Don’t let the price of our products fool you. This IS the best holster money can buy and we back it up with a 30 day risk-free trial and a 50 year unconditional warranty.
